EarSightings ("EarSightings", "we", "us", or "our") is a fan-made community where people share and vote on photos of Hidden Mickeys at Walt Disney World. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site, you agree to this Policy.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from Google (such as your name, email address, and profile picture) as permitted by your Google account settings.
Profile information. A username you choose, and an optional profile picture you upload.
Content you submit. Photos you upload, along with the location, description, and difficulty you provide; the votes you cast; and any reports you file.
Technical information. Basic information necessary to operate the site, such as log data and a session cookie used to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

How we use your information

To operate the site and provide its features.
To authenticate you and keep you signed in.
To display your username, profile picture, and submissions to other users.
To review, moderate, and screen uploaded content for safety and policy compliance.
To respond to reports and enforce our Terms of Service.

Information that is public

EarSightings is a public community. Your username, profile picture, and the photos, locations, descriptions, and vote counts associated with your submissions are visible to anyone who uses the site. Please do not upload anything you would not want to be public.

Service providers we share information with

We share information with the third-party services we use to run EarSightings. We do not sell your personal information.

Supabase — hosting, database, user authentication, and file storage for your account, submissions, and uploaded images.
Google — if you choose to sign in with Google, Google processes your sign-in and shares basic profile information with us.
Sightengine — uploaded images are automatically sent to this content-moderation service to screen for prohibited content before they are published.
Cloudflare — hosting and delivery of the website.

These providers process information on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety, rights, or property of users or the public.

Cookies

We use a small number of essential cookies, primarily to keep you signed in. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Content you delete is removed from the site, and you can delete your own submissions at any time. If you would like your account and associated data deleted, contact us using the details below.

Your choices and rights

You can update your username and profile picture, and delete your submissions, from within the site. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information — such as the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of it, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact us at the address below and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Children's privacy

EarSightings is not directed to children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old (or older, where required by your local law) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

Our service providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries. By using EarSightings, you understand that your information may be processed in locations that may have different data-protection rules than your own.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
