A Hidden Mickey is a shape of Mickey Mouse, usually those three circles, worked quietly into the design of a ride, a building, or the landscape, in a spot you'd never think to look.
The tradition is widely traced to the early 1980s and the building of EPCOT. Imagineers were asked to keep overt Mickey imagery to a minimum there, so, as the story goes, they started slipping him in on the sly as an inside joke. Guests eventually noticed, began hunting for them, and coined the name “Hidden Mickey.” What started as a wink between designers turned into a park-wide treasure hunt.
Once you start looking, they're everywhere: queue props and ride scenery, carpet and wallpaper patterns, wrought-iron railings, murals, the plates and dishes in restaurants, resort décor, golf greens, and even the shapes of ponds and flowerbeds seen from above. Some are obvious; others take a few rides and a good photo to confirm.
Purists count only Mickeys that seem deliberately hidden, not the obvious decorative ones on signs and merchandise. Half the fun is the debate: a real Hidden Mickey, or just three circles that happen to line up? That's exactly what the upvotes and downvotes here are for.
